Here’s What Happens When You Dare to Do The Fan Dance

Our team dared to do the fan dance amongst other challenging physical activities for the annual challenge weekend. The weekend away is an opportunity to walk the talk and practice our Be the Change value. Emma from our Employee Experience team talks about the highlights of the weekend, and how you could get involved next year.

Here at Thrive Tribe, the very nature of our work means that we are empowering our clients to lead a healthier lifestyle in a variety of ways, whether that be stopping smoking, losing weight or cooking healthier meals. Every single role within our organisation is dedicated to this purpose, but as a value driven organisation, we are keen to ensure that we look after the health and well-being of our staff too.

Every year we organise several staff initiatives and events that contribute to this ethos, our most recent being our annual Challenge Weekend…and what a weekend it was!

This year’s challenge involved 23 of our tribe members descending on the beautifully scenic Brecon Beacons to embark upon a full day of activities, starting with kayaking and uphill cycling and finishing with completion of the ‘Fan Dance’ – the 24km hike that forms part of the SAS selection test. Helping raise awareness and funds for our corporate charity partner, Pancreatic Cancer UK, was a very important element of the activity to all involved and gave it extra meaning.

Due to Thrive Tribe’s recent growth, this was the first experience of a challenge weekend for a number of those taking part, including Dena Ellis, Stop Smoking Specialist within One You East Sussex:

‘I am still basking in the afterglow of happy memories of this weekend (also feeling a few sore muscles here and there!). There was so much support, encouragement and camaraderie from everyone involved, in the various ways that we came together throughout the weekend and strengthened our Tribe. Like so many of my colleagues, I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of this team and the opportunity to work side-by-side spreading the ripple effect of health and wellbeing.’

The challenge weekend is open to all Thrive tribe members of staff. Up for a weekend of bonding while you break a bit of a sweat? Check out our vacancies.
